The West Michigan World Trade Association (WMWTA) recognizes Mol Belting Systems, Inc. as its 2016 World Trader of the Year. On Tuesday, May 10 Mol Belting Systems will be honored at a dinner ceremony at the Stonewater Country Club in Caledonia. The WMWTA will present the award publicly two days later, May 12, at the WTW Business Conference, one of the key events scheduled for the 31st annual World Trade Week, hosted by the GVSU Seidman College of Business.
Companies, organizations, and individuals having a presence in West Michigan and demonstrating a strong commitment to the global marketplace are eligible for the prize, which the WMWTA has given every year since 1977. Mol Belting Systems, Inc. joins a distinguished line of recipients that include Bulman Products, Inc., Skytron, LLC, the previous winner, GNS Steelcase, SoundOff Signal, Meijer, X-Rite, and Amway.
The locally owned company has products which are now recognized as the gold standard among their competitors. Their "top of class" food grade conveyor belting trademarked and patented under the name of “ThermoDrive” has been licensed and sold to Intralox, LLC, which sells it throughout the world to companies like Kellogg. In conjunction with their partner, Handstands Innovations, they also pioneered and patented a high quality belt wrapping technique that allows advertising directly on belt covers at checkstands in supermarkets under the trademark “Message Wrap” where Mol is the industry leader.
Mol also engineered motorized pulleys which they manufacture in its Chinese subsidiary, Mol Belting Systems Changshu, and which they sell in North America, Europe, China and beyond. It also has formed a joint venture under the name of Yongli America, LLC with Shanghai Yongli Belting, a publicly traded belt manufacturer in China, which now sells and distributes slabs of belting in North America and Mexico. Mol Belting Systems buys the slabs of belting from Yongli America and fabricates them into treadmill, checkstand and light industrial conveyor belts.
